Quick Reference:

Annual, a plant that completes it’s life cycle in one season. Germinates in approximately 7 to 12 days at an optimum soil temperature of 55 degrees F. Cover seed with 1/8 inch fine soil spaced 1 to 3 inches apart. Space plants 8 to 10 inches apart in the garden. Plant height: 8 to 12 inches.

When and where to plant:

In Alaska Baby Blue Eyes blooms by mid-summer when the seed is planted directly in the garden and can be planted as soon as the soil can be prepared and has warmed in the spring. Nemophila prefers to remain where the seed is planted all summer, it does not transplant well. Choose a location that has full morning sun and some dappled shade in the afternoon with a sandy, well-drained soil. Cultivate garden, even though Nemophila is a wild flower the plants will benefit from an application of plant food before the seed is planted. Lightly scatter seed over the desired area, cover lightly with 1/8 inch of fine soil and water well for a good seed-soil contact. Keep area uniformly moist until seedlings emerge.
